What to Expect During the Detox

Are you considering a detox but not sure what to expect?

Feeling a bit nervous or overwhelmed, wondering if you can really do it?

The good news is that you absolutely can! Thousands of people, including myself, have successfully completed it.

I’ve written this blog to ease those worries and explain exactly what to expect so you can start feeling confident and excited about what’s ahead!

I’ll break down:

  1. Detox Details

  2. What You Can Expect During the Detox

  3. Common Detox Symptoms and How to Manage Them

Detox Details:

Your detox kit includes everything you need—nutrient-packed shakes, essential supplements, and an approved food list. Plus, I’ll provide you with a sample meal plan and delicious recipes to make it easy!

Days 1-2:
You’ll begin with two fasting days, where you’ll enjoy four Daily Nutritional Support shakes spaced throughout the day, along with a morning and evening dose of supplements.

Days 3-7:
Start your day with a shake, followed by a plant-based lunch, a mid-afternoon shake, and a Paleo-style dinner. Your dinner will include animal-based protein, lots of veggies, and healthy fats. You will also continue with the morning and evening dose of supplements

If you choose to extend to a 14 or 21-day detox, you’ll simply repeat this 7-day cycle (two fasting days, followed by the 2-shake/2-meal routine).

Throughout the detox, the focus is on eliminating processed foods, snacks, added sugars, and alcohol to reset your system and reduce inflammation.

What You Expect During the Detox:

Expect to discover a lot about yourself during the detox—it’s a journey that will challenge you on many levels:

  1. How you eat
You’ll gain a new perspective on your eating habits and your relationship with food. Many people finish the detox, realizing just how much cravings and mindless snacking had control over them. Now, you’ll get a taste of what it feels like to take that control back.

  2. You’ll feel empowered
Setting a goal and completing something difficult is proof that you’re in charge of your health and what you put in your body. It’s a powerful reminder that you can tackle anything you set your mind to.

  3. Temporary discomfort, lasting benefits
Depending on your toxic load, it’s common to experience new or intensified symptoms during the detox. As your body releases toxins, you might feel achy, sluggish, or have headaches. Don’t worry—this phase usually lasts only a few days, and afterward, you’ll feel amazing.

  4. Discipline is key
Expect to stick closely to the diet and supplements. The detox is temporary, but the benefits will stick around long after it’s done. Growth happens when you push through challenges, and this experience is no different.

  5. You might feel a little hungry
Fasting days can bring cravings and a bit of hunger. While you might miss eating, remember you’re still getting all the nutrients you need. This short-term discomfort is part of the process, but it’s worth it for the clarity and health you’ll gain.

Common Detox Symptoms and How to Manage Them

How you feel during a detox can vary widely from person to person. Some people feel fantastic throughout, while others may experience days where they feel less than their best. It's normal to encounter detox or withdrawal symptoms, especially from things like coffee and processed foods. These symptoms are a sign that your body is working hard to eliminate toxins.

Common detox symptoms may include:

  • Headaches

  • Fatigue

  • Body aches

  • Insomnia

  • Mood swings

If you experience any of these, here are a few strategies to help ease the discomfort:

  • Add minerals to your water
This helps keep your cells properly hydrated, which can reduce symptoms and support your body’s detoxification process.

  • Practice mindfulness
Remember, these symptoms are temporary and indicate that your body is doing its job, clearing out what no longer serves you.

  • Prioritize rest
Take this time to relax—curl up with a good book or catch up on your favorite shows. Giving your body a break is essential to support detoxification.

  • Get plenty of sleep
Go to bed early. Your body and liver perform most of their detox work while you sleep, so give them the time they need to work their magic.

  • Take an Epsom salt bath
A soothing Epsom salt bath can calm your nervous system and ease physical symptoms. Sweating helps your skin release toxins, while the magnesium in the salts promotes additional detoxification.

  • Consider taking a binder
A binder helps to bind toxins and remove them from your body, which can ease symptoms and speed up detoxification.

  • Support your lymphatic system
Try dry brushing or rebounding (light jumping) to stimulate your lymphatic system and help toxins move more quickly through your body.

  • Continue to move
Gentle activities like walking, yoga, or stretching can help keep things moving and support detox.

  • Sweat it out
Use a sauna to promote sweating and help eliminate toxins more quickly. Just be sure not to overdo it—listen to your body.

  • Manage dizziness
If you feel dizzy, try adding blueberries to your shakes or consider skipping fasting days altogether.

  • Adjust supplement dosage
If discomfort persists, try reducing your supplement dosage by half. You can also skip a dose or two if you’re feeling particularly bad, and see if your symptoms improve.

The first time is always the toughest, but remember to be kind to yourself and proud that you're taking these first steps toward better health. You’re already making incredible progress!

This detox is one of the most powerful and transformative things you can do for both your mind and body. Many people feel so amazing after completing it that they choose to do another within the year—and some make it a core part of their long-term wellness routine!
